The solution is not another vendor platform layered on top of existing infrastructure. It is a fundamental rethink of how fraud data flows through the organisation and how detection, investigation, and response are connected at the architecture level:

  • Build a unified fraud data layer. Every signal that is relevant to fraud detection and investigation — transactions, customer behaviour, device fingerprints, geolocation, prior case outcomes, external watchlists — should be accessible through a single, low-latency data layer. This does not necessarily mean replacing existing systems. It often means building an integration and enrichment layer that sits above them, normalises the data, and makes it available in real time to both automated detection and human investigators.
  • Implement alert correlation and suppression before the queue. Before an alert reaches an analyst, the platform should automatically correlate it with other recent alerts, enrich it with relevant context, and apply suppression logic for known false-positive patterns. This is not about reducing detection sensitivity — it is about ensuring that every alert that reaches a human represents a genuinely ambiguous situation that requires human judgement.
  • Close the feedback loop with automated learning. Investigation outcomes should flow back into the detection layer continuously. The goal is to reduce the time from alert assignment to decision from 40 minutes to under 5, freeing analysts to focus on the cases that genuinely need their expertise.
